About Grace:
Vision & Values
VISION STATEMENT
Grace Church exists as a local expression of the Body of Christ to share with our world God’s love as revealed in His son, Jesus Christ, and to pursue a vital, living relationship with the Lord and one another, in the power of the Holy Spirit.
GRACE VALUES
Our values govern how we gather together as a congregation, what we provide in the way of ministry programs and where we invest our resources – both physical and financial. Not listed in order of importance, each of these values form a part of what we envision Grace to be.
- Prayer is the foundation of all we do.
- We believe that every person is valuable to God and His Kingdom.
- The normal Christian life is for every believer to be fully devoted to Christ and His cause.
- As people birthed into His Kingdom, we should be authentic followers of Christ continuing to grow in Him by learning His way, manifesting His power, and serving our world.
- We believe that every member is a minister called to a servant’s heart – investing his or her time, talent and resources for the cause of Christ.
- God actively demonstrated His heart for lost people and so should we by intentionally reaching out to others. We believe that the most effective evangelism happens through people inviting people.
- Everyone should be involved in a small group where “community” happens.
- We embrace our city in all of its diversity – both ethnically and economically, by every means possible resulting in ministry that impacts our city.
- We recognize the heart of God to transform cities and actively support the city-reaching process in the context of the larger Body of Christ.
- We have a worldwide calling. Therefore, we partner with other ministries throughout the world in proclaiming the message of Jesus.
- We are committed to honoring God and using our gifts and resources for maximum impact by ministering with excellence.
Our Story
In August 1983, twelve people met in the Clear Lake Intermediate School auditorium to begin Grace Community Church. Founding Pastor Steve Riggle jokes that everyone there that day had a job in the church, including the children. Four weeks after that first Sunday God provided Grace’s first facility. It was a miracle. That small congregation cleaned up the building and started holding services with great faith that God was going to do something in and through them.
In a matter of months, Grace grew from that original twelve people to several hundred. The Grace family quickly outgrew that little building and started looking for a new place to call home. Again, God provided just what was needed. Grace moved to the heart of League City in 1984 and refurbished the facility. Volunteer teams worked weekends to prepare the new home for the opening Sunday. After four years, Grace was holding three services to accommodate people who wanted to encounter God in a fresh way. Again, a new home was needed. Grace purchased property and built a landmark building at the entrance to Clear Lake City in 1990. Soon even the new home would be too small to hold what God was doing.
With a clear call from God to lift our eyes an see the city of Houston, Steve and the leadership team made a bold move in purchasing 86 acres on the current site at the Gulf Freeway and Dixie Farm road and relocating the church to this new campus. The new worship center accommodates 10,000 people in worship. The building also offers a number of classrooms, 4 Auditoriums, 1 Gym, and a huge playscape. Today, Grace holds 9 weekend services and 6 weekly services on 3 campuses.
Grace Community Church North Houston moved into its new 85 acre North Campus August 5th, 2007. It is located at the southern edge of The Woodlands (I-45 and Spring Crossing Exit). The first phase of development includes a 750 seat worship center with children¹s auditorium, nurseries, meeting rooms, and a coffee bar and café overlooking a lake and plaza. Included in this phase has been extensive preparation of the site for future expansion. All of the buildings on this campus will center around a large lake with fountains, bounded by a wide plaza system with tropical landscaping and a central park.
Grace expanded further and purchased and redesigned a beautiful building in San Diego’s North County on 15-acres located in Oceanside. Already a vibrant core of people from all walks of life have joined together and the church is growing weekly. Minutes from anywhere in North County, Grace is conveniently located at 1602 El Camino Real.
Grace also has a new campus located in Rocklin, CA. The great location and strong foundation of leadership are poised for growth and the move of God that will influence the growing area of Rocklin. Grace is in a beautiful new building located at 5800 Lonetree Boulevard in Rocklin, CA.
